Welcome to the Home page for the Digitally Reproduced Embryonic Morphology (DREM - pronounced DREAM) Project. The overall objective of the project is to produce a series of image databases, one for each of the 23 stages of human embryonic development. Each database will include a complete serially sectioned embryo selected from the best examples in the Carnegie collection. These databases will cover the entire human embryonic period when all of the organ systems become identifiable, the definitive arrangement of the adult body is attained and major malformations begin. They will be integrated into a user friendly browser interface and will be made available on DVDs and CDs. The DREM disks will be a valuable resource for the education of patients and students from secondary through graduate levels. More advanced users, and developmental biology researchers, will want to use the complete databases on DVD-ROM. For education purposes the CD-ROM databases should suit most needs.
