| An inner or cross-sectional view of the ovum viewed from slightly below the endometrial surface. The epithelium of the latter is represented as a distinct, striated, wavy band. The altered character of the epithelium in contact with the ovum is shown by the indivicual wavy striations. The ovum presents an uneven surface to the endometrium, and has already surrounded a small capillary sinusoid--an infrequent occurrence at this stage of development. | |
